UNIVERSITY OF JOHANNESBURG EXPELS 50 STUDENTS
JOHANNESBURG: The University of Johannesburg has dropped a bombshell on 50 of its students.
Twenty-five students were expelled after it was established that they used fake sick notes after being absent during exams.
The expulsion from UJ is for five years, of which three are suspended.
Two of these students were fifth-year law students.
University of Johannesburg (UJ) registrar Professor Bettine van Vuuren says the institution has went as far as verifying the sick notes with different clinics.
An additional 25 students were expelled for other reasons.
They include having unauthorised notes on their phones, plagiarism, producing fraudulent matric results, and assault.
